RPL

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

RPL provides an opportunity for a review and assessment of skills and knowledge that may have been gained through formal or informal training, work or life experience. Through this process a Qualification or a Statement of Attainment for one or more Units of Competency may be awarded.

The RPL assessment process

The RPL assessment process has a number of steps that will help determine if you already have the required skills and knowledge to be assessed as competent.

The steps include:

  1. Analysis of any documentary evidence you can provide against the competency standard
  2. Completion of an interview to discuss your experience and knowledge
  3. Completion of a practical demonstration and/or written assessment
  4. Confirmation of your experience with third party referees

Once the RPL assessment has been completed, the Assessor will recommend any training that you may need to fill the gap between the required competency criteria and the competency evidence you provide.

Note for students seeking RPL for UET30612 Certificate III in ESI – Power Systems – Distribution Overhead or _UET30812 Certificate III in ESI - Power Systems – Distribution Cable Jointing: If you elect to enrol and complete any identified gap training you will be required to enter into a registered Training Contract.

What qualifications can be RPL’d?
